LIEVE’S PERSONAL TIP
Fiera del Rapulè – Calosso
399 metres above sea level, some 20 kilometres south of Asti, Calosso is nestled amidst the vineyards of the Langhe and Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town boasts a characteristic medieval village dominated by the castle and the church of San Martino. It has always been a land of great wines of which Moscato d’Asti is the main resource. 380 wineries, 1000 hectares of vines on the 1238 of the entire Calosso territory. This is the setting for the ‘Fiera del Rapulè’ (Rapulè Fair), which attracts yearly more than ten thousand people to the town over several days. Tourists come from all over northern Italy and Europe. It is an important event, rooted in tradition, to celebrate the harvest of the ‘late’ grapes, the ‘rapulin’, bunches of grapes that were not picked during the harvest because they were not yet ripe. It is also an opportunity to taste traditional Piedmontese dishes and wines from local producers.
